Showing people affected by rare cancer that they are not alone.

Rare Cancers Awareness Day (RCAD) has been held annually on 26 June since 2021.

Throughout the month of June, we ask all Australians to join us in supporting people affected by rare cancer, improving awareness of rare cancers and the challenges people face, and highlighting the change families need and deserve.

Although individually, a person’s cancer may be rare, together we can have a strong and united voice. Rare Cancers Awareness Day helps to show people affected by rare or less common cancers that they are not alone.

Aware of rare

This year for Rare Cancers Awareness Day, we’re building on last year’s message that a person’s cancer is as unique as their fingerprint.

We’re spreading the word about rare cancers more widely, encouraging people to download an ‘Aware of Rare’ Info Kit to learn more about:

  • what a rare cancer is
  • the challenges that can come with a rare cancer diagnosis
  • signs and symptoms to look out for.

Pledge your support

We’re also calling on the rare community to continue showing their support for rare, whether it’s reaffirming your support from last year or taking the pledge for the first time. It takes just a couple of minutes to add a fingerprint to our virtual pledge, creating a powerful visual reminder for people affected by rare cancers that they are not alone.
